Myth About: God will not give you more then you can handle.

January 7, 2011

I was given a fresh new perspective from my mom around a message she received from Pastor Storm on the scripture based christian statement “God will not give you more then you can handle”.  This does not mean God is an oppressive manager who pushes us nearly beyond our limits to “grow” but rather he is a gracious God who loves us and the only reason why he would give us more to handle is so we juggle to much and realize we need God to juggle for us. If we give it to God we will be able to enjoy  life because it not of our own works but the work of God through us.  What could be any better then having the creator of our universe use our hands to do his work.  Ask God to do it.  Yes we are the physical apparatus he uses to fulfill that need just like Jesus was but the power does not come from within us but actually comes from the source our God.

John 3: 16-17
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but save the world through Him.

Genesis 1:28

And God blessed them and said to them, be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the services of God and man].
* Meaning use it and help people.  What are you doing with what you go?
** You are not be ruled but be a ruler

Message: Rock your box. Live with purpose and passion for the Lord

John 15:16
*I have not chosen him he has chosen me so that I may go and bear fruit.

Restarting Walk

June 7, 2009

I am restarting my walk with God.  Even thought I have continued to be a Christian I have in recent years been lead off path.  This I see not as “Backsliding”, falling away, falling out of love, etc.  I have just simply fallen out of touch with my first love, Christ.   To give some background I was born in a Protestant home in Southeastern Pennsylvania.  I was quite in highschool and no where close to popular.  I was Baptized and “Confirmed” at St. Johns UCC church but I never really understood Christianity.

Luckily parents had choose my Uncle to be the best God Father a child could ever have.  My Uncle and his family came to Christ earlier in their lives and I am sure ever since the day my parents chosen him as my God father he and his wife have been praying for me daily.

I came to Christ when I was in my final year of highschool when the Billy Graham crusade came to the my highschool.  I did not make my commitment at the main event but rather at a pre-crusade event hosted by Al Denson at the Schuylkill Haven High School.  I remember the night clearly.  I just got off my shift working at the local hospital where I worked in the dietary department.  I had a point where I could have chosen to go home or go to the high school (I can’t remember how I heard of the event).  I chose to go to the event which was already in action.  When they asked if anyone wanted to make a commitment with eyes closed and heads down I made my commentent.   Shockingly when I went to pray with someone my cousin was there.  His first reaction was “I didn’t realize you where helping”.  I said I wasn’t here to help I am making a commitment.   My Uncle was also there.  He was obviously over joyed.  I am so glad I could bring so much joy to his life through accepting Christ.

*To be continued*  Need to go to a baby shower.
